How will I know when it is time for me to renew my Medicaid coverage?

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will be reaching out to individuals who need to renew their coverage. They will be sending mail communications with specific directions and timing for everyone. Keep your eye out for a bright yellow envelope.  If you chose to go paperless, you will receive an email.

If you already have a Your Texas Benefits account:

Step 1 – Make sure your contact information is up to date

  • This will ensure HHSC can reach you so that you do not miss out on the renewal process. You have two options:
    • Log into your account at YourTexasBeneifts.com or go to the Your Texas Benefits mobile app.
    • Call 2-1-1, and select option 2.

Step 2 – Prepare to give HHSC additional documents

  • You many need to share documents that prove your child’s social security number and your family income within the last 30 days.  Women who are pregnant may also need to provide their current address.  Gather this information for HHSC, as it will save you time later.

Step 3 – Watch your email inbox

  • Check your email regularly for communication from HHSC about the renewal process.
