Health Care for the Homeless


CommUnityCare Health Centers provides medical care to people experiencing homelessness through the ARCH Clinic, Street Medicine Team and Mobile Health Team.

The ARCH Clinic provides primary medical care to people experiencing homelessness. CommUnityCare services are located inside the ARCH Shelter. 

CommUnityCare provides services on a scheduled and walk-in basis for MAP enrollment and renewal, preventative health care, immunizations, health screenings, chronic disease management (diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc.), urgent health concerns, wound care, medication refills, treatment for hepatitis C, treatment for mental health conditions, case management, and assistance with social services and resources.

CommUnityCare’s Street Medicine Team provides primary health care services to unsheltered people experiencing homelessness, wherever they are. The team visits areas across North, East, Central and South Austin throughout the week to provide services to individuals who face barriers that limit them from visiting a CommUnityCare Health Center. 

Street Medicine Team services include MAP enrollment and renewal, preventative health care, health screenings, chronic disease management (diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc.), urgent health concerns, wound care, medication refills, treatment for mental health conditions, treatment for substance use and assistance with social services and resources.

The CommUnityCare Mobile Health Team offers health care services in on-site community locations for individuals who are or have experienced homelessness. This is done in partnership with community-based organizations by setting up a temporary clinic in their location. 

Mobile Health Team services include acute problem-based visits, medication refills, general medical exam, COVID testing, COVID vaccines, flu vaccines, preventative lab work, STD evaluation, chronic disease management, specialty referral, vision vouchers, dental referrals, basic wound care and case management (site dependent)

    Camp Esperanza (walk-in services only) 
  • Community First Village 
  • Sunrise Community Church (walk-in services only) 
  • The Charlie Center (walk-in services only) 
  • Austin Transitional Center
